15; and never been kissed

Well this is a woeful tale. Yeh so on average people have experienced their first kiss before the age of 15; so this makes me below average. And unlike some people, I don’t have the excuse that I go to an all girls school, because my school I mixed… in fact there are around 70 boys in my year! I’m not unpopular or anything, I’m quite average honestly, and although I’m definitely not head-turning pretty, I am certainly okay looking and not am eyesore. So I ask honestly, where do I go wrong? Perhaps it’s the fact that I don’t go to house parties and therefore have never had the opportunity to get so drunk that no-one cares who they make out with….. but wait…. I did have one opportunity……

What’s a Crush?

I wonder what the real definition of a crush is? I’d say considering the fact that I’ve never had a boyfriend, that I have no clue whatsoever as to what defines love. But, I know that your average crush does not last for 2 years. So what would you call it – infatuation perhaps? I do hope not. But it’s kind of strange because I moved schools, and from about 2 weeks of knowing this guy I started to like him. It’s been 2 years since, and the feelings just get stronger. I feel like at the start it was definitely just a crush, but I don’t really know what it is anymore. We are most certainly friends, and get along very well , but I’m 100% sure that he doesn’t want anything at the moment and this is quite demoralizing. But what is a crush though? Strong feelings of desire? A temporary infatuation  toward someone? A burning desire to be with someone? Somehow, I don’t feel like these definitions really fit….

Slumdog Millionaire

So what’s everyone’s opinion on this movie?

Personally I thought it to be ground breaking. I first watched it about 2 weeks ago and have seen it twice since. The filming is spectacular, particularly they opening shots as the children play cricket, with the song O… Saya playing throughout the background. In fact, the whole soundtrack is fantastic, featuring songs such as Paper Planes by M.I.A which caused a huge stir and much controversy upon its initial release. The senses of Jamal and Salim’s childhood homes in the slums of Mumbai were shot in Dharavi, an showed viewers a very different view to India then what they might usually be exposed to. Dev Patel acted superbly, and this was one huge step up from his appearance in Skins as Anwar, which propelled him to fame only months before. The only criticism I would state is the act that the films ending was incredibly romanticized. Admittedly Slumdog Millionaire is by no means an easy watch; but by the end I felt as though Latika picking up the phone was rather A-Typical.

Unheard of but Magical Music

Something I personally couldn’t live without is music. I am not some poor “damaged” individual who describes music as their “saviour”. That is by no means me. However I do believe that music has the power to change the mood of an individual significantly, and it can relax and nourish the senses.  Spotify’s discover feature has enabled me to experience new music that would certainly not come up on the top 40. I can’t fall asleep listening to music, but what I can do is I can close my eyes and be lulled into a state of relaxation so deep it is almost like sleep. I imagine this is what it feels like to meditate if you are a Buddhist. Music is my meditation, and I wish to share this point of view with you all and hope that others out their experience it too.
